Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is taking on a different role at the Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art this fall — photographer.
“The Sheriff Shoots: Photographs by Grady Judd” opens this Saturday, Aug. 29, at The Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art, featuring a selection of Judd’s wildlife photographs documenting Florida’s natural habitats and the animals that live in them.
The exhibition will be on display through Jan. 3 at the museum, 800 E. Palmetto St. in Lakeland. The AGB is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with late-night hours on Thursday until 8 p.m. After Labor Day, Sept. 7, the museum will again be open on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
“The Sheriff Shoots” includes images ranging from close-up animal portraits to broader scenes that show animals in their natural surroundings. The museum describes the photographs as a look at the diversity of Florida’s ecosystems through Judd’s perspective as a photographer.
The exhibition is part of the AGB’s upcoming gallery schedule and will be displayed in the Robert and Malena Puterbaugh Photography Gallery.
