The League of Women Voters of Polk County is having a blowout celebration for Constitution Day and a fundraiser for all the events we have planned for next years centennial of the 19th amendment! Of course (as we all know) the 19th amendment gave women the right to vote!
This celebration is being held (in grand style) at the glamorous new home of Tom and Paula Mims on Lake Hollingsworth. In addition to honoring the Constitution (pay attention, there’s a fun quiz with prizes) and dignitaries (LWV Florida president Patti Brigham), a few students from the Harrison School of the Arts will entertain and sing a few songs of yesteryear.

The SCORE 3rd Annual Empower Women in Business Event is 9 am-Noon. Dr. Angela Falconetti, President of Polk State College, is the Keynote Speaker. Doors open at 8:15 am for registration and breakfast. Day will end with a panel discussion and networking. Cost $40 P/P; $280 Corporate Table of 8. Event is sponsored by SCORE, a SBA resource partner.
Participants will enjoy teachings, practice, question and answer periods. Vegetarian lunch provided by Lakeland Meditation Group. Taught by Andy Quinn. Andy has been practicing meditation for 25 years, and teaching for 6 years. He was a member of the Vipassana Meditation of SN Goenka, and is mentored by Peter Carlson, founder and teacher of Orlando Insight Meditation Group. Registration required. Retreat cost is donation.
