This Sunday, Feb. 8, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will square off in Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif., a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX in 2014.
Neither team is from Florida, but Lakeland — specifically Lake Gibson High School — will be well represented in front of an estimated 127.7 million viewers worldwide. Alumni from the classes of 2018, 2010, and 1985 will take the field in the big game.
Tyrice Knight
2018 Lake Gibson grad Tyrice Knight is a linebacker for the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. Seattle’s defense, considered to be one of the best in football, leads the league with an average of 17.2 points allowed per game.
In high school as an outside linebacker for the Braves, Knight recorded 200 tackles, two interceptions, and forced three fumbles. He went on to play at the University of Texas at El Paso.
The Seahawks drafted Knight in the fourth round of the 2024 draft. That same year in Week 14, he had 12 tackles and two pass deflections and was named the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week, an award that is primarily given to offensive players.

This season, during the Week 10 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, Knight forced two fumbles against quarterback Jacoby Brissett, both of which were returned for touchdowns by his teammate DeMarcus Lawrence.
Quinshon Odom
Former Braves quarterback Quinshon Odom, who graduated from Lake Gibson in 2010, is also headed to California for the game. Odom is a Seahawks offensive assistant coach, who supports the coaching staff with quality control. Before working in Seattle, Odom was in the player personnel department with the Green Bay Packers.
Roy Ellison
Roy Ellison, a 1985 graduate from Lake Gibson, will umpire in Super Bowl LX, officiating in the offensive backfield. Ellison has been an umpire for 22 years, appearing in three previous Super Bowls. Coincidentally, two of those games featured the Patriots, who are playing for the title once again. He was most recently chosen to work in the 2023 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
Super Bowl LX kicks off Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. on NBC.
