Best Buy will bring Ikea mini-shops to its stores in Texas and Florida later this year — including to the Best Buy store in Lakeland, at 4215 U.S. Hwy 98 N.

This will be the first time that Ikea markets its signature goods through another retailer, according to a report in the Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal.

Ikea will test its 1,000-square-foot mini-showrooms in 10 Best Buy stores, starting in the fall.

The mini-Ikea shops will feature kitchen and laundry merchandise and will be staffed by Ikea workers “who will help shoppers on designing spaces and storage, and Best Buy employees, who can advise on electronics,” the Journal reported.

“Texas and Florida make sense as a place to start” this partnership, according to the Journal.

“Newly built homes are a key source of revenue growth for appliances and home furnishings, and both states are in the top 10 nationwide for number of new homes built in the past year.”
