Lakeland Seeking Age-Friendly Designation
Lakeland is applying to be named an age-friendly community under AARP’s Age Friendly Community Network, an international effort launched in 2006 to help cities prepare for rapid population aging and urbanization.

Nearly 100 people came to the Coleman-Bush Building tonight to hear a discussion on policing and community-government relations. Speakers were State Attorney-elect Brian Haas, Public Defender Rex Dimmig, Assistant County Manager Gary Hester, Sheriff Grady Judd, Lakeland Police Chief Larry Giddens and City Manager Tony Delgado.
Blood Donation Locations in Lakeland
Following news of the mass shooting in Orlando, many Lakeland residents responded by lining up to donate blood. Others made plans for a vigil Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Mirror. Here is a list of blood donation locations and hours for the coming week.
