Residents and businesses affected by the tornadoes spawned by Tropical Storm Nestor on Oct. 18 can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, Polk County Emergency Management has announced.

Applications can be made online, by calling (800) 659-2955 or emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, county officials said.

An SBA Outreach Center opens Friday at the Salvation Army, 2620 Kathleen Road. After an 11 a.m. opening Friday, hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Application filing deadlines:

  • Jan. 13, 2020, for physical damages to property
  • Aug. 13, 2020, for economic injury
