LIBRARY: Even as its number of E-books is increasing, the Lakeland Public Library has trimmed 12 percent of its physical books during the past year. The library is reconfiguring its space and has discontinued placing books on ground-level shelves.

MEMORIAL DAY: Nine Polk soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan were honored Monday during a Memorial Day Tribute at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
