- COVID AT SCHOOLS: Polk County Public Schools’ new COVID dashboard, unveiled Thursday, shows infections were reported in 792 students and 115 staff from Monday through Wednesday this week. Students quarantined during that period numbered 4,321. | View the dashboard

- POLK EMS AND FIRE employees have worked an average of 449 hours of overtime during the last year, leaving them exhausted amid worker shortages, union leaders say. A county spokeswoman said 74% of the overtime hours were voluntary.
- LAKELAND ELECTRIC workers being laid off as part of the shuttering of the McIntosh 3 plant no longer have to sign a separation agreement. Union officials, who said the agreement would have deprived workers of their rights, still are dissatisfied because the city issued no apology.
