AMENDMENT 4: The daily newspaper took a look at plans to implement Amendment 4. The measure restored the voting rights for some 1.4 million people convicted of felonies. The paper quoted Polk County Supervisor Lori Edwards: “Edwards, a Democrat, expressed frustration over Matthews’ statements. “We came to the conference looking for direction from the state Division of Elections,” Edwards told The News Service of Florida. “As you know, the secretary of state reminds us that he’s the chief elections official. And they didn’t help. They didn’t give any direction to us. And they wouldn’t give us a timeline of when they will.”

KEEPING AN EYE ON POLY: Lakeland City Commissioner Stephanie Madden noted that land around Florida Polytechnic is being developed and wants the city to pay attention. Though the current project is in unincorporated Polk County, Auburndale has come out against it.
