Six pastors and U.S. Rep. Ross Spano are scheduled to speak Thursday evening at a rally in Munn Park called to pray for justice and healing as protests against racism and for systemic change continue across the country.
Scott Thomas, lead pastor of Free Life Chapel in Lakeland, is organizing the One Heart Community & Faith Rally from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Munn Park, 210 E. Main St. The event, which is open to the public, includes speakers from various Christian churches in Lakeland. U.S. Rep. Ross Spano, R-Dover, is also scheduled to speak.
In addition to prayers for justice and healing, speakers will also address hope, change, peace, government officials, leaders, and law enforcement.
The planned speakers are:
- Pastor Scott Thomas, Free Life Chapel
- Pastor Alex Harper, First Baptist Institutional Church
- Pastor Waleska Orellana, Iglesia Casa de Amor y Fe
- Pastor David McEntire, First United Methodist Church
- Pastor Eddie Lake, New Bethel AME Church

Munn Park was the site of protests organized by Black Lives Matter Restoration Polk the last two Sundays. Both attracted crowds of 1,000 or more.
