An estimated 30,000 people came to Lakeland’s Red, White & Kaboom Independence Day celebration and fireworks at Lake Mirror despite the Sunday evening rains, Fox 13 News reports. The July 3 rains have become a bit of a norm, according to city of Lakeland spokesman Kevin Cook. Mayfaire-By-The-Lake is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Lakeland’s premiere outdoor, juried, fine arts festival is free to attend and organized by the Polk Museum of Art. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 7 and 8, the same weekend as Mother’s Day, at Lake Morton in downtown Lakeland. More
Balloon pilots will take the place of jet pilots to demonstrate their skills this weekend in the skies over Sun ‘n Fun. The three-day Up Up and Away Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival opens Friday and continues through Sunday on the Sun ‘n Fun Expo campus located on the south side of Lakeland Linder International Airport.
