Multiple March milestones

Trinity Laurino
Executive Director
March is filled with milestones for us at LkldNow. First, it’s our founder Barry Friedman’s 71st birthday. Nine years ago, at a point when he could have eased into retirement, Barry started this experiment in a new reader-centric, public-service-focused, nonprofit model for local news.
Then, a little over five years ago, he raised just enough money to hire LkldNow’s first paid employee which brings me to our second milestone: my five-year anniversary! During these past five years we’ve continued to grow and invest in our journalism, adding a staff reporter with Kimberly Moore and last March the addition of our editor, Cindy Glover. Happy-one year anniversary to Cindy!
It’s amazing to be able to grow this organization and our audience at a time when the outlook for traditional news outlets can seem bleak. LkldNow.com regularly reaches more than 70,000 readers per month; that’s a huge chunk of our community connecting with LkldNow.
Our ability to invest in our local reporting is possible because of the readers who donate and our local business partners that have supported us. This March, if you are able to and if you value the news and reporting you find here, please help us keep Barry’s vision going strong by becoming a supporting member.
