Vincent “Vinnie” Glenn Marsh, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 21st, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 1st, 1950, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Vinnie lived an eventful life as a professional soccer player, U.S Army Soldier/Veteran, bridge restoration contractor and engineer, son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He was the second oldest of 5, leaving behind his sisters, Barbara Porovne and Mary Jane O’Donnell, and his brothers, Michael and Anthony Marsh. He is now joined with his mother, Angelina Maria Marsh, father, Ralph Eugene Marsh, and grandpa, Vincent James Esposito.
Vinnie played soccer for several years for the Springdale High Dynamos, Harmarville Bodicks, and Harmarville Hurricanes, before being drafted for the Vietnam War. He held all the scoring records in the West Penn league and participated in the U.S National Junior Cup. He went on to serve his country from January 6th, 1970, to December 14th, 1971. He served in the 4th Infantry Division as a sharpshooter and grenadier. He was wounded in battle. After returning home, he coached soccer while he was being treated for shrapnel wounds. Unfortunately, Vinnie was impacted by Agent Orange.
Vinnie lived the rest of his life exploring the country, making a name for himself, starting a beautiful family, and being the biggest jokester anyone had ever known. Everyone that knew him loved him. You either earned his title of “chief” or you were on his “shit list.” He ran a strict program, but he was so humble and caring and made every room fill with laughter. He even worked up until his passing. He was the true definition of a hard worker and a provider.
Vinnie met his wife, Mercedes Marsh, in Palm Harbor, Florida in December of 2000. They’ve been together ever since and got married on February 15th, 2013.
He moved to Lakeland, Florida in 2002 with his wife, son, Jose Gilberto Hernandez Gonzalez, and daughter, Jessica Maria Marsh. He extended his family to include son, Vincent James Marsh, and son, Ryan Eduardo Marsh. He gained a daughter in law, Rebecca Ann Hutchinson and grandson, Logan Tucker Hernandez.
In Lakeland, he was well known and a great neighbor. He became a loyal member of the Resurrection Catholic Church. He also owned and operated his business, VinMar Waterproofing & Concrete Restoration, LLC, with his wife.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, golfing, going to the beach, watching his old timey shows, as well as UF, Penn State, Bucs, and Steelers football, coloring, and being the center of attention. His love and memory lives on with everyone who loved and cherished him.
