U.S. Rep. Scott Franklin, whose district includes most of Lakeland, declined to say how he voted Wednesday when House Republicans removed Liz Cheney from her leadership post, The Ledger reports. Rep. Greg Steube of Sarasota, whose district extends to some south Lakeland suburbs, voted to remove Cheney as the chair of the House Republican conference. Cheney was ousted after repudiating former President Trump’s allegations that the 2020 election election results were fraudulent.
