Starting Friday, the CVS pharmacy at 5010 S. Florida Ave. will provide 50 swab tests per day to people with appointments who claim they show symptoms for the coronavirus.

It’s one of seven CVS self-test locations being added in the Tampa Bay area, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The only other CVS location in Lakeland offering the tests is on Wabash Avenue. All appointments at that location are full for the next three days, according to the company’s website.

Patients who sign up online drive up and administer the swab test themselves under the guidance of a pharmacist, who sends the test to a third-party lab. Results are expected within three days.

There is no charge for the test, but people with insurance will be asked to provide proof, said CVS spokeswoman Tara Burke.

Tests take place in the patient’s car. Walk-ups are not accepted. Times for testing at most CVS locations offering them are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Those signing up online are asked to indicate which coronavirus symptoms they’re exhibiting. A notice on the website says: “Test supplies are extremely limited. Help those who need testing the most by answering truthfully.”
