The 120 WestLake public housing apartments southwest of the RP Funding Center will be demolished to make way for the 320-unit Twin Lakes Estates. But first housing needs to be found for the remaining residents of the existing units.

Clearwater-based Gulf Coast Jewish Family And Community Services (website) plans to close its Lakeland office on U.S. 98 South by the end of March and discontinue services involving more than 500 foster children, WFLA reports. The move pressures the other three case-management agencies in Polk to absorb the large caseload.
