Traffic disruption should be minimal as Bartow Road/U.S. 98 is resurfaced from Lake Bonny Park to Lemon Street starting Feb. 7, Florida Department of Transportation officials say.

Construction should last until summer, and most of the work will be done from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights, spokeswoman Sandra Mancil said.

Some signal and sidewalk work will be done during the day, but there will be no lane closures from 6 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m., she said.

“Both the northbound and southbound lanes will be milled and resurfaced, as well as the side street turnouts and median crossovers,” Mancil said.

In addition to the repaving, the project includes plans to:

• Install detectable warning surfaces at sidewalk curb ramps.
• Alter traffic separators at Hollingsworth Road, Lake Parker Avenue, Walnut Street and Ingraham Avenue to add more space at median openings.
• Upgrade traffic signals.
• Add more school zone signs.

Lane Construction Corp. of Lakeland was chosen for the $1.3 million project.
