
Wilma Herndon, age 70, passed away peacefully in Lakeland, Florida on May 22, 2021.
She was born Wilma Mincey on November 28, 1950 in Savannah, Georgia to Bruce Mincey and Hazel Walker. She lived most of her life in Lakeland, Florida. She was the second of eight siblings. She loved surrounding herself with family from an early age and always remained close to her brothers and sisters. She was a loving mother to three children: Connie, Paula, and Melvin, and Nana to fourteen grandchildren Tawana, Khalil, Taquan (Connie), Jaivion, Jaileigh, Anaiya, Jeremiah (Paula), and Colton, Jacob, Nevaeh, Brayden, Matthew, Brinley, and Jaysen (Melvin). Her loving personality made her easy to get along with and love.
Her generous heart always made everyone feel welcome. Her favorite things included sitting on the porch talking with her brother Danny who spoiled her with her favorite junk food, spending time with her sister Pansy who cooked her peach cobbler and all of her favorite things and surrounding herself with her grandbabies. Of all the things she was in life, Nana was her favorite title. She was very close with her nephews Brad, Dewey and James and niece Mandy.
She is preceded in death by her father Bruce, mother Hazel, sisters Arlene, Cindy, and Phyllis, brothers Bruce and Willard, and granddaughter Tawana. She is survived by brother Danny and sister Pansy, and children Connie (Mark), Paula (Jerome), and Melvin (Trisha) as well as thirteen grandchildren who will miss her every day.
