Twelve of the 44 COVID-19 cases reported at Polk County schools were from the joint campus of Lakeland High School and Harrison School for the Arts. The school district isn’t releasing the number of people there under quarantine, but News Channel 8 quotes School Board member Billy Townsend confirming reports that around two dozen teachers and up to 300 students have received quarantine notices. Meanwhile, the school district has changed a policy and now allows teachers to return to school if they have been exposed to COVID-19 but are asymptomatic. Townsend says it’s too allay teacher shortages caused by quarantines.
