Shirley Ann Haines (Holloway), 72, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 28, 2020, with her family by her side.
Born April 22, 1948, in Newnan, Georgia. Shirley was the daughter of Clyde and Delia Clide Knott Holloway. She was the youngest of 12 children. She married Robert Earl Haines on January 3, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia. Shirley’s brother, Clyde Holloway Jr., officiated their wedding. Later that year, they moved to Lakeland, Florida where they resided for the last 54 years and raised four wonderful children.
Shirley was a wife, mother, and homemaker. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and going out shopping. She loved the beach and looked forward to her family’s annual beach week at Anna Maria Island. She and Robert took many trips and enjoyed traveling to Indiana and Illinois visiting family and friends. They made many fond memories. She was always proud of her home and family. She enjoyed many hobbies and activities including cooking, reading, watching tv, decorating for the holidays and being outdoors.
In her later years, Shirley cherished time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and her three Irish Setters. She would attend her grandchildren’s special events. She taught her granddaughters how to bake and dance, would share old stories with her grandsons, and showed all of her grandbabies how to appreciate the outdoors. After Robert retired, they would spend all their time together. You never knew where you would find them: sitting on the front porch swing, by the firepit, in their shed, or in the backyard. She was and always will be Robert’s “Peaches.”
Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Haines Sr.; four children, Gay Ann Haines Kelly and husband Patrick, Robert Earl Haines Jr. and wife Autumn, Cynthia Marie Haines Aqui and husband Aloysius, and Christopher David Haines and fiancée Olivia; twelve grandchildren, Katie Haines Farmer and husband Michael, Nathan, and Lily Kelly; Justin, Hunter, and Ethan Haines; Bria, Emily, Grace, and Will Aqui; Christian and Payton Haines; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jace Haines all of Lakeland, Florida; one sister, Carolyn Holloway Minix and husband William; and one brother, Donald Holloway. She was of Baptist faith.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 6th from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel 1727 Bartow Road, with service to follow at 11AM. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions will go towards purchasing a family and friends memorial bench to be placed at her gravesite in Shirley’s honor.
Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
