FLORIDA POLY: About 40 local officials interested in developing a high-tech research park near Florida Polytechnic University will travel to Raleigh, N.C., next month to visit Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University, which houses 76 corporate, government and non-profit tenants.

SCIENCE FAIR: Lakeland winners in the just-concluded state science fair included students from Lakeland Christian School, Lakeland Highlands Middle School and Resurrection Catholic School.

SPORTS HALL: New inductees in the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame include two Lakelanders: NASCAR driver Joe Nemechek and former MLB pitcher Alan Mills. They are among six who will be inducted June 11.
