Lakeland police are trying to learn the identities of two men who shot and killed a 34-year-old man at a Mobil gas station at 1615 W. Memorial Blvd. shortly after midnight Sunday.

The victim, whose identity was not released by police under Marsy’s Law, was pumping gas when he saw two armed men approaching him and tried to run away, according to a Lakeland Police Department news release.

The two men had just gotten out of a car parked on an adjacent street, police said.

The victim, who had multiple gunshot woulds, was given medical aid on the scene by police, Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue personnel; he died shortly after being transferred to Lakeland Regional Hospital, police said.
