A house on Hollingsworth Road that is surrounded by butterfly-attracting plants and container gardens was honored with the city of Lakeland’s residential beautification award for September. Glenn and Sharon Steffy’s home across from Harrison School for the Arts dates to the mid-1920s. Glenn Steffy, a former Lakeland Fire Department battalion chief, said his wife is the “brains” behind the landscaping. “She decides what she wants and I make it happen,” he said when receiving the award at Monday morning’s City Commission meeting. | Barry Friedman, LkldNow
