Mrs. Mina Jo Scott Varan, 88, passed at home on the evening of July 31, 2021.

Mina was born June 17, 1933, in Reedy, WV. At Spencer High School, she played clarinet in the marching band, was a cheerleader and was a member of the National Thespian Society. She worked as a secretary after attending a year of business school at Mountain State College in Parkersburg, WV, until she married husband of 56 years in 1958, whose engineering work took her from state to state. She loved Lakeland, being a homemaker and competitive bridge player and being active with her church, including her years working at the St. Francis Thrift Bow-Tique.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Edward Varan of PA; her parents, Basil Edward Scott and Elva Beulah Snodgrass of WV; her sister, Patsy Ruth Scott Markwood-Decker; and her brothers, Charles Brooks Scott, George Maywood Scott, and Basil “Eddie” Scott, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Leigh Varan and her husband Bill Gilliam; son, Mark Gregory Varan and his wife Lynn Bielicki Varan; two grandsons, Brendan Michael Varan and Zachary Ryan Varan; a cousin, her sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be held later at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Condolences may be sent to the family at Heath Funeral Chapel.
