
Vern L. Ader, age 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, August 26, 2024, at his home in Menomonie, WI.
He was born November 29, 1929, in rural Dunn County, WI to Francis Ader and Bonnie Ader (Jensen). He grew up in the Eau Galle area and graduated from Elmwood High School, next serving in the US Army attaining the rank of Corporal. He attended Stout State University and obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. and taught at Mid-State Technical College in Marshfield, Wisconsin, where he later served as Trade and Industry Coordinator.
Vern married Sally Svoboda November 28, 1953, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire, and together they raised their five children in the Marshfield area. Vern attended Corpus Christi of Bakerville. He was also a member of American Legion Post 54 in Marshfield.
After the passing of Sally, Vern married June Hiter on July 25, 1999, at Isle au Haut, Maine. They enjoyed traveling together, spending summers in Wisconsin and winters at their home in Skyview Estates in Lakeland, Florida. They were married for twenty years until her passing in May of 2020.
Vern is survived by his friend and companion Deanna Craton of Minneapolis; his sister Irene Hosford (Ader), and by his five children; Leigh (Jim) Herbert (Ader) of State College, PA; Barbi Mueller (Ader) of Eau Claire; Danny Ader (Cindy) of Osceola; Andy Ader (Deanna) of Waupaca; and Karl Ader (Gina) of Cumberland. He is also survived by family member Roger Mueller, and grandchildren Andy Mueller, Elliot Mueller, Nicole ‘Nikki’ Marx, Kira Ader, Alyssa Ader, Taylor Ader, Rhiannon Miller, Logan Ader, Nate Herbert (Mackay Miller), Truman Ader, Jacob Knight, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Ader, and wives Sally Ader (Svoboda) and June Ader (Hiter).
Vern loved life and had a passion for inventing, creating, and was always busy in his workshop making something. Vern worked tirelessly his whole life and had numerous products and things that have been marketed and sold around the world. Right up to his last day he was writing notes and thinking of new things he was planning on doing. Over the years he focused a lot on health and developing multiple inventions for improving health. Vern was always willing to help others and loved problem solving.
Vern loved to play golf and was a championship golfer. He was an avid horseman who kept a herd for many years. He rescued several neglected and malnourished horses, and would trailer them home to his farm where he rehabilitated them.
