Sterling (Bill) White, born in South Hill, Virginia in 1933 to Alvin Malachi White Sr. and Nannie Mary Tuck (during a depression), enjoyed his 8 siblings growing up and taking care of his parents after becoming an adult.

He often helped on the tobacco farm until finishing school and joining the Army where he honorably served as a Military Policeman. After the military, Bill worked as a firefighter, and then transitioned to a MA Manager and Technician for Sears, where he made many friendships and cherished memories.

Bill will always be remembered for his stubbornness and huge heart. We will always imagine hearing him say “Yes, I’ll take a million dollars!” when the servers asked if he needed anything else after each outing. His love of playing rook with family and all those lotto scratch offs over the years will always be cherished memories.

We could not have asked for a better man as a leader for our family, with his genuine love of the Lord and sharing the gospel. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Nannie, 8 siblings, and is survived by his wife Nita White, siblings Nancy Simmons and Alvin (Peanut) White, children Jeff White and Susan Thurmond, stepchildren Terry and Tony Johnson, grandchildren Shannon, Abby, Kristina, Lucas, Eric, Logan, Aaron, Chris, Hannah, Brandon, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on 7/6/24 at Together Church located at 6725 N Socrum Loop Rd, Lakeland, FL 33809 at 11 a.m.

Condolences may be sent to the family at Heath Funeral Chapel.
