We are sad to announce the passing of Lesley Castro of Lakeland, Florida. She was born on August 3, 1961 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She entered into our Lord’s arms Friday, September 8, 2023 at the young age of 62. Lesley passed away surrounded by her family after a 34 year battle with MS. She was the daughter of a Coast Guardsman.
Through her daddy’s service in the Coast Guard, her family moved every 4 years. The beautiful places she was blessed to live were North Carolina, Puerto Rico, New York, Hawaii and New Orleans before moving to Lakeland, Florida in 2000. Lesley graduated in 1980 in New Orleans and began her work at Bell South and then AT&T as a Sales Rep. She quickly raised to the position of Vice President at the young age of 25. She was just starting a career in modeling when she had to resign due to her illness. She moved with her parents from New Orleans to Lakeland. This was to be with her sisters to help her after getting the news she had MS. Her mother, Judith was her mom and 24 hour nurse. Her dad was at her side anytime she needed his help.
Through her illness Lesley accepted the Lord. She left a family too early but who look forward to joining her in heaven. Faith is now your sight. We want to thank all the nurses and doctors at Lakeland Regional Hospital who took such good care of Lesley. We also want to thank Mary and Leeann who were Lesley’s nurses that came during the week to take care of her so that mom and dad can get a break.
Lesley is survived by her parents: Bill and Judith Castro; Sisters: Karen Bowden (Robert), Aileen Payne; Nephews: Bobby Bowden, Johnny Bowden (Destiny) and Cpl. Ron Payne who was waiting for her in heaven; Niece: Rachel Mulhearn (Chris), Valerie Anderson and many great nieces and nephews.
Lesley will be laid to rest on Tuesday in a private family ceremony.
Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.
