With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Katherine “Kathy” Ann Ellis, who entered eternal rest on July 9, 2026, at the age of 71. After making Lakeland, Florida, her home for more than 18 years, Kathy built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, partner, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and unconditional love left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Kathy was the heart of her family. She had the kindest soul, a generous spirit, and a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten anyone’s day. She loved deeply and unconditionally, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her devoted partner, Cary Oyster. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved most, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
She especially enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, cooking family meals, camping, and making every gathering feel like home. Kathy had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her warmth, compassion, and selfless nature touched countless lives, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue through the family she adored.
Kathy is survived by her devoted partner, Cary Oyster; her children, James Mon, David (Amanda) Mon, Mary (Brandon) Bledsoe, Amanda (Dominic) Skeens, and Nicolle Buttler; her grandchildren, Jordan (Cody) Damron, Julija Nichols, Dominic Mon, Autumn Shifflett, Ronnie Shifflett, Adelyn Skeens, Lauren Buttler, Ethan Buttler, and Seth Dier; and her great-grandchildren, Fancy Browning, Andrew Browning, and Charlie Mon.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Kathy’s love will remain with us always. Her gentle heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and countless acts of kindness will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who were blessed to know and love her.
