Lakeland area residents will need to follow the current one-day-per-week irrigation schedule until at least Oct. 1. Restrictions apply to all water sources, including private wells.
How to comply
- Lawn watering is permitted only once a week on your assigned day, between midnight to 4 a.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight.
- Car washing is allowed on your day only, with a shutoff nozzle.
- Decorative fountains are limited to four hours per day.
- Pressure washing is allowed in preparation for painting or sealing but not for aesthetic purposes.
- Restaurants must serve water by request only.
Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFMD) put the Modified Phase III water restrictions into place in April. The restrictions were previously set to expire July 1. SWFMD extended its emergency water shortage order due to ongoing drought conditions.

The city is getting additional info on data centers. As long as we have water restrictions in place data centers should be a mute point. Data centers consume large amounts of water. The developers who want to build them will tell the local politicians what they want to hear. The information on data centers is easy to find on the net. Hope the commissioners do their homework and analysis. Once a data center gets approved there is no turning back.
Plenty of misleading information out there on both sides. The on-line info is no moe unbiased than the above comment. Are there not several hundred data centers now in the US? What have been the pros and cons? Do they actually consume water or just recycle it? What are the benefits? Why are the bulk of the existing centers only in Chinaand The United States? I’m still weighing all the information I can find. Hope the conmissioners do the same.
