Joseph John Misiaszek, Jr passed away on March 23, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. He was born on October 15, 1939, in Southbridge, Massachusetts to Joseph Sr and Bertha Misiaszek Lyle. He is survived by his brothers, Mark and Bill, his wife, Nancy, two daughters, Karyn Aurilio and Amy Misiaszek, and three grandchildren, Joshua, James, and Jordan. He attended the Coast Guard Academy and then joined the US Navy, where he was one of the first pilots to fly the A7 with VA 147 in Vietnam. He served on two tours and continued in the Navy until moving to Lakeland, Florida in 1976. He worked at Merrill Lynch until he retired. He spent his retirement enjoying his passion for photography and hummingbirds. He was published by the Ledger, as well as Birders’ World magazine, and was recognized by the Audubon Society for his rare sighting of Allen’s hummingbird.

He will be missed for his knowledge and teaching for those pursuing an interest in the birding world.

Services will be held in Southbridge, Massachusetts at a later date.
