
James William “Butch” Rogers , sunset at 7:43 p.m., on April 2, 2024. Mr. Rogers was born in Tampa, Florida on December 23, 1949 to Thomas James Rogers and Dorothy Rogers Frierson.
He graduated from Howard W. Blake High School, in the class of 1967. He attended Florida A&M University prior to enlisting into the United States Navy. He retired from the navy after 28 years of service. Mr. Rogers has a bachelor of science degree in curriculum development from Southern Illinois University. he was self-employed in the insurance industry and was an avid speaker in the area of self-development.
James met and married his childhood sweetheart, Florence Peacock in 1978, to this love nest two kids were born, son Gerald D. Rogers, Sr. and daughter Jameisha Rogers Scott. “Butch,” as he was lovingly called, was the straighter who would stop on the side of the road to provide assistance to someone in need of help.
Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by: his parents, brother Donald A. Rogers, Aunt Willie Ruth Turner, Grand Aunt Ethel Alford, cousins, Hazel Thomas, Roosevelt and Franklyn Turner.
Mr. Rogers leaves loving memories to his devoted wife of 46 years, Florence Peacock Rogers, son, Gerald D.
