Gertrude "Trudi" A. Lithgow, 98

Gertrude “Trudi” Lithgow, affectionately known as Mom and Grammy, passed away September 18, 2026 in Lakeland, Florida. Born in Pennsylvania in 1928, she and her family relocated to Florida in 1976.

Trudi was a registered nurse whose career spanned many decades and specialties. She witnessed many innovative changes in healthcare, such as the use of antibiotics. She also had the distinct honor of being listed in Who’s Who in American Nursing.

She was an eager and dedicated volunteer at her church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal, serving in may different capacities, such include, Senior Warden, Alter Guild, office aide, and memorial garden committee member, to name a few. She was a small-statured woman, but a powerhouse. She was known for turning ideas into reality.

She loved her family and friends deeply and frequently hosted big gatherings filled with laughter, fellowship, and great food. To encompass 98 years is an impossible feat. She was a warm, welcoming soul whose home smelled of pecan cookies and gingerbread during the holidays, and always ready for a “tea” chat. Her rooms were filled with fresh-cut flower arrangements from her garden and a happy heart signified by a deep joy. She will be greatly missed.

Trudi was preceded in death by her husband, Millard R. Robinson, Sr., and later Richard A. Lithgow. She is survived by her children, Millard “Robbie” R. Robinson Jr. (Rachel), Kevin B. Robinson (Janet) and Ann-Louise Hines (Dan); stepchildren, Amy Ridgeway (Stewart), Anne-Marie Lithgow Depp (Scott), Susan Lithgow, and Richard Lithgow; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1820 E County Rd 540A, Lakeland, FL 33813, on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11:00am.
