Elizabeth Myers Smith was called to her eternal heavenly home on January 10, 2023 at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her children, Royanne McMillan and Jim Myers and lovingly remembered by three grandchildren, Howard “Chip” McMillan, Danielle Robinson, and Meagan Waldrop. She loved to be called “Nana” by her eight great-grandchildren: Trent McMillan (20), Leahbelle Paladino (18), Camaren Myers (16), Stella Robinson (12), Sabrina McMillan (11), Isaac Robinson (11), Jordyn Waldrop (10), and Brett Waldrop (8).
Originally from Cullman, Alabama, Elizabeth lived in the Lakeland area since the early 1970’s. She loved the warmth and sunshine of Florida, and looked forward to vacationing with family every summer at the beach in Siesta Key. Elizabeth had a playful spirit and showed her competitive nature when playing cards and boardgames with family and friends.
Elizabeth was a beloved elementary school teacher who touched the lives of hundreds of students during her career. She was always an avid learner and especially enjoyed the arts, but she will be remembered most for her devotion to Christ. She retired from St. Paul Lutheran School in Lakeland, being honored in recognition of 30 years of ministry in Lutheran education.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 4450 Harden Blvd., Lakeland. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
