Brenda Finley Hartline, 79, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026.
Brenda grew up in Cornersville, Tennessee, the daughter of J.D. “Petey” and Grace Finley. She trained as a Radiologic Technologist at Vanderbilt University Hospital, where she met a fellow student, Curtis “Curt” Hartline. Brenda and Curt married in 1967 and made their first home in Madisonville, Kentucky. They were members of Liberty Baptist Church, and Brenda stayed home to raise their children.
In 1992, Brenda and Curt moved to Jasper, Alabama, where they were members of First Baptist Church. Together they founded Hartline Supply, Inc., a high-voltage cable repair and supply company serving the mining industry, with Brenda serving as secretary and treasurer. The business later grew to Grand Junction, Colorado, where Brenda and Curt lived for several years, and to central Florida. They moved to Lakeland in 2004 to be closer to family, and Lakeland became home to the company’s corporate office. The business Brenda and Curt built is still a family company today.
Brenda loved listening to Elvis Presley and never missed a chance to watch football and cheer for Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tom Brady. A devoted wife and mother, she cherished her family above all, and her grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and by Curt, her husband of nearly 51 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathey Lane, and husband, Tom, of Clarkesville, Georgia; her son, Brian Hartline, and wife, Julie, of Lakeland, Florida; her grandchildren, Robert Lane, Ashley Lane, Emily Hartline, and Andrew Hartline; and her sisters, Sandra Reeves and Teresa Adams.
Brenda will be laid to rest in a small graveside service on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10 am at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland. For those who wish to honor her memory, the family suggests a gift to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
