Betty Jo Bryant Roberts, 92, a local cattle farmer known for her work with FFA youth and stewardship of the Little Flock Church in the Green Swamp Community, died Monday, January 2.

Mrs. Roberts was born January 17, 1930 in Lakeland and attended Lakeland High School. She retired in 1977 to the family farm of her now-deceased husband, Hiram Miles (Miley) Roberts, to raise cattle, hunt, fish and enjoy life through her love of bluegrass music, travel, cooking, friends and family. She was an active member of the Polk County Womens Cattle Association, Treasurer of the Little Flock Church and a member of the Green Pond Cemetary Committee. She served the Green Swamp Community as a poll worker for seven presidential and countless local and state elections.

She was predeceased by her parents, Julian and Zonia McDuffie of Jesup, GA and a brother, A.A. Bryant Jr. of Waycross. Mrs. Roberts is survived by a sister, Katy B. Minchew of Waycross, GA; a son, Carlton Alvin Roberts (Deborah) of Newnan, GA; a daughter, Patrcia Denise Snellings (Jerry) of West Paducah, KY; six grandsons, Matthew McDuffie Roberts (Catherine) of Sandy Springs, GA, Josef Miles Roberts (Kimberly) of Auburn, GA, Seth Taylor Roberts (Sally) of Newnan, GA, William Alexander Roberts (Meredith) of Marietta, GA, Jeremy Ryan Snellings (Kimberly) of Pleasant Plain, OH and Jacob Nelson Snellings (Nicole) of Holloman AFB, NM; a granddaughter, Mollie Mills Roberts of Atlanta and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens on Friday, January 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Green Pond Cemetary. Pall bearers will be her grandsons and granddaughter. After the graveside services, friends and family are invited to a dinner on the grounds of the Roberts homestead.
