It is with deep sorrow and much love that we share that Janet Ott of Lakeland, Florida entered into heaven after a brief illness. She was 79 years old.

Janet retired as cafeteria manager at Medulla Elementary after 29 nine years where she felt blessed to have been a part of so many children’s lives. She was a loyal and active member at Medulla Baptist Church for 47 years. She was a Sunday school teacher, served the Children’s and Youth departments, was a member of the choir, Pioneer club, and decorating committee. Janet was an avid sewer. She made costumes and clothing for church productions, family members, and friends. She was a member of the Needle Benders club where her true passion was quilting. Anyone who received one of her quilts knew how special they were to her to have received one.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Benjamin Ott, her mother Margurite Weaver, sister Laverne, and brother Marcus (Marc). She is survived by her sisters Eleanor Jones and Donna Ivey (Jerry), her 5 children, daughter Tracy Poe (Billy), son Gregory (Leslie), daughter Leigh Anne Steinberg (Scott), daughter Melany Penn (Lance), and son Cameron (Esther). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren who she adored.

A viewing for Janet will be held on Friday, July 16th at Medulla Baptist Church from 10 to 11 a.m., with a service directly following at 11 a.m.. Condolences may be sent to the family at Central Florida Funeral Chapel.
