As CPS Investment Advisors wraps up its 50th anniversary this year, the team is already looking ahead to the next 50 years and how it can continue making a difference in the community. Through its 501(c)(3), CPS Cares, the firm stays true to its values with active volunteer and fundraising efforts that support local organizations and schools.
Local nonprofit organizations
United Way Spirit Week: To kick off its United Way Spirit Week in November, CPS held Nonprofit Monday. The team visited and donated to three local organizations: Talbot House, Central Florida Healthcare and Peace River Center. The stops included donations of hundreds of hygiene products and color kits for children.
Toast to the Holidays: As a proud supporter of the arts in the community, CPS is a presenting sponsor of Lakeland Symphony Orchestra’s (LSO) holiday concert, Toast to the Holidays. The program includes holiday favorites, including selections from “The Polar Express” and “Nutcracker Suite.” Tickets for the December performances can be found on LSO’s website.
Polk County Public Schools
Winter uniform drive: Supporting Polk County Public Schools students with the tools and resources to succeed is one way CPS gives back. Staff recently donated winter uniforms so students can focus on academics, not staying warm.
School Day Enrichment: CPS sponsored transportation for more than 4,000 fifth graders to attend Lakeland Symphony Orchestra’s School Day Enrichment concerts. This year, students heard music from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, How to Train Your Dragon and more.
Frozen Treats Truck: This school year, the CPS ice cream truck has been visiting schools to give Polk County Public Schools teachers and staff a complimentary sweet-treat break in appreciation of their hard work.

“The CPS Investment Advisors team is proud to be deeply involved in the community where they live, work and play,” said Mike Riskin, president, treasurer and partner at CPS. “Being able to support the important work our local organizations are doing is core to our mission.”
