CPS Investment Advisors marks a significant milestone this year as the firm celebrates its 50th anniversary of serving clients in the community.
Founded in 1975 as Chas P. Smith & Associates, PA, CPA’s, the Lakeland-based firm began with a focus on traditional tax and accounting services while educating clients about money and financial independence. That client-first philosophy has remained central to the firm’s mission for five decades.
“Reaching our 50th anniversary is a testament to the relationships we’ve built and the trust our clients have placed in us over the years,” said Peter C. Golotko, the firm’s CEO and partner. “We remain committed to delivering the same boutique-level service that has been our hallmark since day one.”
As the firm celebrates this milestone, it’s also planning for the future. In its succession planning efforts, CPS has promoted Michael A. Riskin to president. Riskin brings more than 15 years of experience with the firm and a lifelong dedication to financial planning and practice management.

Riskin said the promotion allows him to continue the firm’s tradition of client-focused service. “I have been proud to represent a firm so highly focused on the client experience and community involvement,” he said. “Leading the team as president is an incredible honor.”
The leadership change is part of a succession plan designed to ensure continuity as the firm enters its next chapter. Golotko, who held the president title for nine years, will continue as CEO.
Holding degrees from Lehigh University and Florida International University, Riskin also maintains CPA, CFP®, and PFS certifications. He’s active in the Lakeland community through Leadership Lakeland and board positions with organizations such as Florida Southern College, Kiwanis Club of Lakeland, EMERGE Serves, Estate Planning Council of Polk County, All Saints Academy, and Temple Emanuel. He lives in Lakeland with his wife Nyrka and their daughter.
