Three Lakeland institutions — Florida Southern College, Florida Polytechnic University and Southeastern University — made the cut when U.S. News and World Report released its annual college rankings earlier this month.
FSC had a three-way tie with Asbury University of Kentucky and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Daytona Beach for the ninth spot in the “Best Regional Universities South Rankings” category. One of Florida Southern’s academic and athletics rivals, Winter Park’s Rollins College, ranked No. 1 in this category.
“Florida Southern is consistently included among the most elite colleges and universities, and we are extremely thankful to be at the top of the U.S. News & World Report rankings,” FSC President Anne Kerr said in a news release. “This is an important confirmation that Florida Southern is among the best academic institutions in the nation.”
Florida Southern moved up a ranking in the “Best Regional Universities South” category, where it held the tenth spot last year.
The data used in these rankings was taken during 2019, so the COVID-19 pandemic did not have an impact on this set of rankings.
