More than 100 groups walked, waved and danced down the parade route on Saturday, Jan. 17, celebrating “A Legacy of Strength, A Future of Actions” during Lakeland’s 48th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.

Participants included churches, civic organizations, high school marching bands, fraternities, sororities, youth cheerleading and dance groups, businesses and more.

Anna Toms was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo., where she cultivated a love for writing and eventually earned her Ph.D. in literature and the humanities. She is an experienced educator who has taught students from middle school to college to think critically and express themselves clearly. Anna moved to Lakeland in June of 2020.
