Remembering Hollis Hooks, a mentor and friend to many

Trinity Laurino

Executive Director

Part of being a community news organization is that the news we cover often directly affects us, as it did this week with the passing of Hollis Hooks, who, among his many other notable civic activities, served on the board of LkldNow.

Hollis deliberated thoughtfully before joining our board and was only interested if he felt he could truly be of service.

His lack of technical knowledge about how we deliver the news digitally made him unsure heโ€™d be able to contribute meaningfully. He didnโ€™t want it to be a passive board seat.

But Hollis fully understood the mission of LkldNow, the need for this work and the potential for positive impact on our community.

That understanding far outweighed any lack of proficiency with social media or digital technology. Part of what LkldNowโ€™s board does is to represent and reflect the voices of our community โ€“ and Hollis was adept at that.

As we pause to remember him, weโ€™re thankful for his service to our county, our city, and to our organization.

Thank you to everyone who commented on our article and shared your own fond remembrances of Hollis.

Our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues and many friends.
