On Saturday, we published an account of a rally in Munn Park that morning, “They Came to Defend Free Speech and a YouTube Influencer.”
At the rally, as we reported, some attendees were denouncing the LDDA. Readers may have noticed that, in that article, we also said, “The LDDA is… a sponsor of LkldNow”– and that our “donors and sponsors have no role in editorial decisions.”; but this merits a little more explanation.
The independence of our news judgment is one of our greatest assets. All of our decisions, assignments and editing are made and done with one objective: to tell our readers what they need to know to build a stronger community.
As a nonprofit provider of local news, we count on all of our contributors to keep us free— and independent- that’s what you’re supporting, whether you’re an individual, an authority or a business.
Our supporters tend to understand that. I’m told that in nearly 10 years of LkldNow, not once has a sponsor or contributor attempted to hold sway over or influence our news coverage.
