Loyce Harpe Park

Polk County’s Loyce E. Harpe Park, which a lot of people still call Carter Road Park, will reopen on weekends only starting Jan. 4.

The park at 500 W. Carter Road has been closed since Hurricane Milton in October; there is heavy truck traffic there because it is still being used to process storm debris. As a result, hours will be limited to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for the time being, according to Polk County Parks and Recreation.

Facilities that will reopen include include the dog park, skate park, mountain bike trails, fishing areas and athletic fields.
