Mrs. Lillie Pearl McAfee Battle, 74 retired resident of Lakeland, Florida passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 after a long illness.
Mrs. Pearl was born October 17, 1945 to the late Elder Phillip McAfee, Sr. and Gracie Mae Jordan McAfee. She migrated to Lakeland, Florida from Gilson, Georgia at an early age. She graduated from Rochelle High School. She was a childcare worker for Lakeland teen parents. She gave her life to Christ in 1984 and attended the Church of God in Winter haven, Florida where she was a faithful member. Pearl enjoyed cooking at the young age of seven and continued until she became ill in 2017. She also catered to the Lakeland Ledger durng the holidays with her famous sweet potato pies. She enjoyed being with her family, friends and serving God.
She is survived by her three devoted daughters: Gwendolyn Wright (Lakeland), Judy Herrington (Joe) Haines City; her surrogate daughter Edith (Quinella) Quinetta Blow-Lewis (Jimie) Elizabethtown, Ky who loved and appreciated her Aunt-Mother dearly; Stepdaughter Lynn Price (Kingsland, Georgia) Brother: Priest Phillip McAfee, Jr.; Her sisters in Christ that cherished her Mrs. Edna Harrington, Mrs. Annie Campbell and Mrs. Fannie Mae Owens (Lakeland) Sister -in -laws Bertha Edwards (Cuthbert,Georgia) , Mildred Murphy (Biloxi Mississippi), Debbie McAfee (Chicago, Illinois), Edith McAfee (Lithonia, Georgia); brother- in- laws John Battle, Sr, (Cuthbert, Ga) Wilburn Battle (Cleveland ,Ohio); Grandchildren Kristopher, Kriisten (KayKay),Triniti, Trenton (TJ), Aaron,Vontrice, Vonetta and Vanetta. Godchildren George White, Jr., Nakia Wright-Moore, Anthony Mitchell, Tanya Chapman, Author Gulley and Love. Special nieces and nephews Idreana, Robert, Maurice (Tiger)and Gilbert Sr., devoted friends and family during her illness, Maribel Garay, Fay Driver, Brenda Grimsley, Shaun Simmons, Elder Jeffrey Davis, Albert Roberts and Church of God – church family in Winter haven, Florida. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends who she truly loved unconditionally.
