After months of anticipation, Grievous Angel has opened in downtown Lakeland. The smash burger spot at 801 E. Main St., from the founders of LoveBird Almost Famous Chicken, began a soft opening last week. A grand opening has not yet been scheduled.
A downtown spot reimagined
Grievous Angel takes over the former Unfiltered Lakeland and The Poor Porker space across from Lake Mirror. Renovations transformed the space, creating a casual downtown hangout for lunch and dinner, with refreshed indoor seating and a covered outdoor patio.
The name nods to Grievous Angel, the 1974 album by Winter Haven native Gram Parsons, reflecting owner Jeremy Brumley’s music-inspired branding.
Menu highlights
The restaurant serves smash burgers and hot dogs, shifting away from LoveBird’s hot chicken concept. Sides include fries, spicy fried pickles, eggrolls, and a Texas chop wedge, and the restaurant offers soft serve and Poor Man’s Beignets to round out a meal.
Their signature burger, the Grievous Angel comes with American cheese, charred onions, dill pickle, pickled jalapeno, and Sunday Best sauce. The Grandma Lou dog comes with Grandma’s Slow Onions and chipotle cream cheese. The restaurant serves cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer and cider.
