The Lakeland City Commission on Monday considered a zoning change that will allow Inklings Book Shoppe to move from its current location, downtown, to 737 S. Missouri Ave., across the street from Hillcrest Coffee, in Dixieland.

The commission approved it unanimously.

Inklings owners Finley and Carmen Walker have said they hope to reopen in Dixieland by July 1.

Finley said he envisions his bookstore’s new location as a place to bring people together.
