A portion of the pedestrian pathway on Lake Hollingsworth near Crystal Lake Drive is closed as Lakeland Police Department conduct an active investigation. There is a heavy police presence in the area.

Officers on the scene confirmed a deceased person was found at the lake but could not provide further details this early in the investigation.

A portion of Lake Hollingsworth drive is closed this morning for previously-scheduled milling and resurfacing in the area.

Update – 9:45 a.m., April 20:

LPD spokeswoman Robin Tillett confirmed that a jogger located the body near a bench before 7 a.m. on Monday, April 20. She said the body is that of an adult male in his early 20s. He was not a student at Florida Southern College.

Tillett said there are no obvious indications of foul play. Initiaily, it appears the individual died by suicide.
