What’s the state of the arts in Lakeland today?

That’s a question LkldNow is hoping to answer at a community conversation it’s holding in conjunction with Lakeland Vision, this Thursday.

Where: the Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art, 800 E. Palmetto St., Lakeland

When: Thursday, May 15, 6 p.m.

How much: This is a free event. Registration is encouraged here.

Panelists: Ashley Gibson Barnett, philanthropist

Gillian Fazio, muralist

Ashley Miller, executive director, Lakeland Symphony Orchestra

Tiffany Van Weiren, arts in medicine coordinator, Watson Clinic Foundation

Moderator: Daryl Ward, executive director, Polk Arts & Cultural Alliance

Aims: Lakeland has been a city that values arts and artists, from its museum and symphony to musicians, film makers, public art and packed audiences for community theater.

Is that still true? How are our institutions and creative communities doing after the pandemic? Is there still a strong appetite for supporting the arts?

There will be an audience Q&A as part of the forum where the organizers are counting on also hearing from you.
