SPECIAL ELECTION: To save staff time and money, election offices in Winter Haven and Bartow will be the only locations to walk-in and vote for the January 15th special city commission election.
Early voting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays from Jan. 7 to Jan. 14 at Supervisor of Elections offices in Winter Haven and Bartow.
Lori Edwards, Polk Supervisor of Elections, also said that those that want to vote early can call and receive a ballot within 24 hours. Edwards also said that voters who had requested a mail ballot for the previous election will automatically be sent one for the special election.
COMMUNITY APPEAL: Area ministers from the Lakeland Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Lakeland Police Chief Larry Giddens held a news conference on Thursday appealing to the community to to “remain calm and not rush to judgment” until the conclusion of the investigation of the officer shooting of Michael Jerome Taylor.
