
Walter Cason Sr. transitioned from this life on April 22, 2021 while surrounded by his beloved sons. Walter was born Jan. 10, 1934 in Lakeland, FL to the late Amy Dixon and Bennie Cason Sr., whose ancestors came to Lakeland as railroad worker in the late 1890s.
His childhood and education began in Moorehead which is Lakeland’s first African American community. In those early years Bennie Sr., Amy and their children attended Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. church. And later, in this same neighborhood, Walter met and married the love of his life, Leveda Lee with whom he remained united with for 49 years until her death in 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers; Sanford Kelsey, Bennie Cason Jr., Joseph Cason and Timothy Cason; and sisters; Joyce Cason and Doris McNish.
His death is mourned by devoted by sons; Walter Cason Jr. (Lakeland), Timothy Cason (Lakeland), Eddie Cason (Atlanta), Samuel Cason (Melbourne), and Lorenzo Cason (Lakeland); Brother-in-law, Hiran Ingram; 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grands and especially loving nephew Jessie Wright Jr. and a host of other nephews and nieces.
